Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. This section     is very short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. The river winds through the Ouachita Mountains and you get great scenery. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Arkansas are often more forgiving than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels   fill up quick. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The Rockport Ledge stretch of Ouachita River is 0.1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. Briefly about the general area: Near Ouachita River you come across Steep Hollow which is a great place to explore, and Ouachita River is a spot with many visitors from Malvern. And that's not all you can do here in the Ouachita Mountains. A tour to Lake Catherine State Park when you're here at Ouachita River is never a bad idea. Hot Springs National Park is a splendid site in the vicinity of Ouachita River.
