Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. This stretch of Sulphur Creek is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-V(V+) section. This is a     pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. The river winds through the Boston Mountains and you get great scenery. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Harrison, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Southern Fork to Richland   Creek section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. There's camping available near Sulphur Creek. Briefly about the general area: There's wonderful hiking along the Pedestal Rocks Trail, and a tremendous site is Bearcat Hollow. You'll truly wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining things in the Boston Mountains. Don't leave Sulphur Creek without first going for a hike along the Hideout Trail. Sulphur Creek is not far at all from Witts Springs. Sulphur Creek is a wet place that gets a good deal of rainfall. The wettest month of the year is commonly May, that's the one that rains the most, and January is the month with the least moisture.
