  The beautiful scenery of Perry County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The starting point is not too far from Hot Springs, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. There are
    campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The Ouachita Mountains scenery is wonderful. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Getting your paddling muscles activated and
a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need to bring snacks. The NFR 780 to Highway 7 section of Trace Creek in Arkansas is 3.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II+ section of whitewater.

Lake Ouachita State Park is worth checking out if you're at Trace Creek. Trace Creek ordinarily gets a great deal of rain.
