This stretch of American River - Middle Fork in California is 7.1 miles long and is a class I(II) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside California you might find the rivers here     a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. The beautiful Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus.
