Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. This is a short paddling stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. There aren’t     any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch of American River - Middle Fork in Placer County is 2.1 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. The campgrounds here at American River - Middle Fork are pretty good. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. The beauty of the Northern Sierra Nevada is a great plus for this river. The put-in location is a short drive from Truckee-Grass Valley, as you can   see on the road map further down. The Mosquito Ridge Road to confluence with Middle Fork section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. Briefly about the general area: Have a splendid hiking adventure along the Nevada Point Trail; American River - Middle Fork is a spot with many visitors from Georgetown. These mountains rock, just look at all the cool things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Skunk Canyon is a perfect location to spend some time at, and do take a hike on the Bake Oven Trail.
