The starting point is not too far from Gardnerville Ranchos, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. Getting a good workout and just being     out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beautiful Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often more challenging than in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This river system is full of great   paddling stretches, the Strawberry to Kyburz stretch is just one of them.
