Road to Calaveras Reservoir section of Arroyo Hondo River is 8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. There's camping available near Arroyo Hondo River. This section is long enough to enjoy
| a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The natural beauty of Santa Clara County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. way around here you won't find a large number of other rivers. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come.
