California whitewater, Arroyo Seco River

Monterey county, Willowcreek Bridge to Arroyo Seco Picnic Area section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV(V)     3 miles
This section of Arroyo Seco River is 3 miles long and is a class IV(V) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're coming from Salinas it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as easy
as elsewhere. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance
because these hotels fill up quick. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks. The scenic beauty of Monterey County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whitewater paddling here in the Santa Lucia Range is a great experience.
The Willowcreek Bridge to Arroyo Seco Picnic Area section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system.

Briefly about the general area:
There are pleasant spots to discover along the Marble Peak Trail, and if you're stopping by from Salinas, you won't be the only one. Whohoo, so much fun stuff in one place! The Santa Lucia Range rules! Going for a hike on the Horse Pasture Trail is always a great adventure. Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park is a splendid spot to stretch your legs a bit; Arroyo Seco River is close to Limekiln State Park which is a stunning place.
