The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The Close to Geysers to Iron Bridge stretch of Big Sulphur Creek in     Lake County is 4.6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-V section. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The river winds through the Coast Ranges and you get great scenery. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you   don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you're coming from Clearlake it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Briefly about the general area: During your stay at Big Sulphur Creek do have a look at close by Indian Beach. Robert Louis Stevenson State Park is worth visiting if you're at Big Sulphur Creek, and don't leave Big Sulphur Creek without first going for a hike along the Cadd Fire Trail. This river is always fun. Clear Lake State Park is a good place to go if you're at Big Sulphur Creek; this is a popular place for folks from Geyserville.
