  If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The nature scenery of Alpine County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. This stretch of Carson River - East Fork in Alpine County is 20 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American
    Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your sleeping bag. The
campgrounds here at Carson River - East Fork are pretty good. The starting location is a short drive from Gardnerville Ranchos, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you wonít get lost. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. When you're paddling down a Northern Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery  
along the way too. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come.

Briefly about the general area:
Don't leave Carson River - East Fork without first going for a hike along the Burnside Lake Trail. A trip to Hot Springs will fill your spirit with nice feelings. Good hiking is available along the Charity Valley Trail, and Grover Hot Springs State Park is a great place to go. This river is so great. Cottonwood Canyon is a good place to explore, and the wonderful people of Gardnerville like to hang out nearby.
