  The Upper Bridge to Lower Bridge section of Clavey River in Tuolumne County is 8.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V+ section of whitewater. If you're coming from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other
    states, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The river winds through the Central Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the
Upper Bridge to Lower Bridge stretch is one of them. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The scenic beauty of California and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length  
for a morning trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here.

Briefly about the general area:
Hiking is a popular thing to do around Clavey River; Pilot Ridge Trail is a great local trail. At Clavey River you always meet someone from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge. Clavey River sees pretty high levels of precipitation. Most of the rain falls during January while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. During the warm days of summer at Clavey River highs are frequently in the 80's while night lows are generally in the 50's.
