  The nature scenery of California and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations
    you might end up sleeping in your car. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The Lower Bridge to Ward's Ferry section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The put-in location
is a short drive from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Sierra Nevada is a great experience. The Lower Bridge to Ward's Ferry section of Clavey River is 20.8 miles long and has been rated as a class V+ section by American Whitewater.  
You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near.

Briefly about the general area:
Clavey River is a place with many visitors from Big Oak Flat, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Pilot Ridge Trail. You truly should have a thing about the Central Sierra Nevada. For the period of the warm months at Clavey River temperatures are mostly in the 80's with night lows in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Clavey River.
