  The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Grants Pass, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find
    lots of paddling spots. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but
you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The wonderful Siskiyou County scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section of Trace Creek in Siskiyou County is 7 miles  
long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. When you're paddling down a Klamath Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.

Briefly about the general area:
Trace Creek is right by the Clear Creek National Recreation Trail; a delightful place like Klamath National Forest is too pleasant to leave out. Man, is there heaps of amusing things to do in the Klamath Mountains. While you're here at Trace Creek you will meet lots of folks from nearby Happy Camp. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Trace Creek, and during the night it cools down to the 40's.
