Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The put-in location is a short drive from Redding, as you can see on the road map further down. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get     to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. The Sunny Hill Road to Platina Road bridge Close to Ono section of Cottonwood Creek - North Fork in Shasta County is 4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Briefly   about the general area: Cottonwood Creek - North Fork is not far at all from Igo. All our national parks are fine spots to pop by, and Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is no exception. Summer brings highs in the 90's to Cottonwood Creek - North Fork; the overnight is fairly colder of course, usually in the 40's. During the winter the highs are commonly in the 40's; nighttime lows at Cottonwood Creek - North Fork during the wintertime regularly drop into the 20's.
