The Highway 32 to Route 99 stretch of Deer Creek in California is 43 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often tougher than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not     suitable for beginners. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Sierra Nevada is a great experience. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. If you're coming from Red Bluff it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Great   exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: Places like Bidwell-Sacramento River State Park are nice to take a look at, and there are good spots to explore along the Old Lassen Trail. So many entertaining things in the Northern Sierra Nevada, just tremendous. A fine site to visit close to Deer Creek is Dillion Cove; don't leave Deer Creek without first going for a hike along the Graham Trail.
