  The wonderful California scenery and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. The put-in is not too far from Visalia-Porterville, there's a road map further down the
    page with more info on that. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. The Dinkey Creek Campgrounds to logging spur road stretch of Dinkey Creek is 5 miles long
and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V section. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The beautiful Central Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus. The campgrounds here at Dinkey Creek are pretty good. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that. There  
are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well.

Briefly about the general area:
Hiking is a popular thing to do around Dinkey Creek; Red Mountain Trail is a great local trail. Sierra Summit has glorious slopes and a friendly staff, and the Deep Creek Trail offers hiking at its best. This is such a wonderful river. All through the warmest time of the year at Dinkey Creek highs are usually in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. Highs all through the winter are typically in the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Dinkey Creek.
