California whitewater, Dinkey Creek

Fresno county, Ross Creek Trail to confluence of National Forest Kings section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS V+     6.3 miles
If you're coming from Visalia-Porterville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The natural beauty of California and the sparkling of the sunlight
on the water beats anything. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is not the only paddling
stretch in this river system, there are others too. This stretch of Dinkey Creek in California is 6.3 miles long and is a class V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The beauty of the Central Sierra Nevada
is a great plus for this river. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come.

Briefly about the general area:
Sycamore Springs is always fun to check out, and Dinkey Creek is right by the Bobs Flat Trail. Just can't get enough of the Central Sierra Nevada. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Deep Creek Trail. Dinkey Creek gets very little precipitation. Throughout the month of January you get the most rain around here, and July on the other hand is the driest. All through the summertime at Dinkey Creek temperatures are generally in the 90's; the nighttime is rather cooler of course, regularly in the 60's.
