The starting point is not too far from Ukiah, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are     not easy. This stretch of Eel River - North Fork is 8 miles long and has been rated as a class III section by American Whitewater. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. If you're   a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The beautiful Coast Ranges scenery is an added bonus. Briefly about the general area: Hiking along the Morrison Trail is magnificent fun, and Eel River - North Fork is next to Bear Canyon which is certainly worth stopping at. Yeah, come up here to the Coast Ranges for a perfect time. Eel River - North Fork is right by the Ben Duncan Mailbox Trail, and do put some time aside to spend at Willow Spring while you're here at Eel River - North Fork. This is a really good river. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Eel River - North Fork.
