If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The natural beauty of Tehama County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. This stretch is     long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The Lowrey Road to Paskenta Road section of Elder Creek is 17.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III section. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking,   either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The river winds through the Klamath Mountains and you get great scenery. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Briefly about the general area: Uhl Spring is a scenic location to have a look at while you're at Elder Creek. Going for a hike along the Lanyan Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. At Elder Creek you always meet someone from Paskenta. At Elder Creek during the summer highs are in the 90's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 40's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Elder Creek.
