Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations   in advance you're all set. The Virgilia to Belden section of Feather River - North Fork is 10 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. Briefly about the general area: The Yellow Creek Trail offers hiking at its best, and a glorious place to explore nearby is French Ravine. These mountains rock, just look at all the amusing stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Going to Plumas National Forest near Feather River - North Fork is a splendid thing to do, and the great folks of Twain like to hang out nearby. This river is so great.
