This stretch of Grindstone Creek in Glenn County is 12 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often more difficult     than elsewhere, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. When you're paddling down a Klamath Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The Grindstone Road to Road 306 section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Clearlake, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead   and pack your sleeping bag.
