If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river     system, the Hospital Rock stretch is just one of many. This stretch of Kaweah River - Middle Fork in Tulare County is 4.8 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The river winds through the Southern Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Visalia-Porterville,   there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: There is a good hiking trail in close proximity to Kaweah River - Middle Fork called the Atwell Hockett Trail, and no need to travel far to stop by interesting stuff like Tunnel Rock.
