re: North Fork of the Kaweah River, you might want to mention that the BLM sites are closed, and if you trespass onto the BLM sites you can get ticketed. Boaters/swimmers etc. should not be encouraged to trespass onto private property to enter or exit the river. Says Patricia
This river smells like dirty diapers and beer. Says Joe Rafter Guy
The Yucca Creek to Kaweah Bridge section of Kaweah River - North Fork in California is |
6.4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. The natural beauty of California and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle.
| Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The starting location is a short drive from Visalia-Porterville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater paddling here in the Southern Sierra Nevada is a great | |

experience. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. You might have to settle for a hotel
a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots.
This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip.
Briefly about the general area: You'll meet a lot of people from Three Rivers here; you can spend the day on the beach at Sandy Cove Beach.
