  The put-in is not too far from Visalia-Porterville, as you can see on the road map further down. The Kings River Powerhouse to Big Creek Cove section of Kings River is 7 miles long and is a class II(III) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The beautiful scenery of Fresno
    County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The wild scenery
of the Central Sierra Nevada is great. There's camping available near Kings River. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of  
good places. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well.

Briefly about the general area:
Near Kings River you hit upon Lone Pine Canyon which is a tremendous site to stop by; there is a nice hiking trail close by called the Bobs Flat Trail. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting things in the Central Sierra Nevada. On a wonderful day at Kings River you can take a hike along the Deep Creek Trail. Throughout the summer at Kings River temperatures are commonly in the 90's. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 60's.
