  The natural beauty of California and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The starting point is not too far from Visalia-Porterville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. You might be into whitewater rafting
    or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need to bring snacks. The beautiful Central Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus. The
Balch Afterbay to confluence with Dinkey Creek stretch of Kings River - North Fork in Fresno County is 1.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because  
these hotels fill up quick. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more.

Briefly about the general area:
If you're here at Kings River - North Fork, checking out Patterson Bluffs is a must. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Kings River - North Fork; Bobs Flat Trail is a wonderful local trail. Interesting geology is available here; Indian Rock is near Kings River - North Fork. There's good hiking along the Deep Creek Trail, and folks from Dunlap love to come here. At Kings River - North Fork all through the summer highs are in the 70's.
