Briefly about the general area: There are fine places to explore along the Horse Ridge National Scenic Trail, and since you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Orleans. You completely must go
for the Coast Ranges. Don't leave Klamath River without first going for a hike along the Salmon Summit Recreation Trail. Red Cap Gulch is a tremendous site to discover.
