The scenic beauty of San Diego County and the water flowing gracefully down Los Penasquitos Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are     less manageable. There's camping available near Los Penasquitos Creek. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other places. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. No shortage of good hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the I-15 to I-5 section is one of them. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos, as you can see on the road map further down. This section is   long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. Briefly about the general area: Cabrillo National Monument is a perfect national park; nothing beats kicking back at Torrey Pines City Beach. Places like Torrey Pines State Reserve State Park are perfect to have a look at, and you can hit the beach if you want, Blacks Beach is practically right here. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. Torrey Pines State Beach is a great spot to stretch your legs a bit, and you'll perhaps meet some folks from San Diego here. Los Penasquitos Creek is ordinarily a reasonably dried out spot.
