The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Briefly about the general area: There is
a tremendous hiking trail in close proximity to Mad River called the Ben Arthur Trail, and while you're here why not stop by Secret Gulch. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining things in the Coast Ranges. On a pleasant
day at Mad River you can take a hike along the Rough Gulch Trail. High temperatures at Mad River throughout the summer are in the 90's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's.
