The Mark West Lodge to Mark West Road stretch of Mark West Creek in California is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The campgrounds here at Mark West Creek are pretty good. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. There are nice comfortable hotels here, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This   stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. Briefly about the general area: Robert Louis Stevenson State Park is worth taking a look at if you're at Mark West Creek, and Mark West Creek is not far at all from Santa Rosa. Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach is a beach near Mark West Creek that you can take a look at, and needless to say, everybody loves Annadel State Park. This is such a wonderful river. Good hiking is available along the Cadd Fire Trail. The high level of rainfall makes Mark West Creek a reasonably wet spot. The month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is July.
