  The Greeley Hill Road to Merced confluence section of Merced River - North Fork is 17 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V(V+) section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The
    nature scenery of Mariposa County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside California you might find the rivers
here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The wild scenery of the Central Sierra Nevada is great. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The Greeley Hill Road to Merced confluence stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get  
to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.

Briefly about the general area:
You're sure to encounter some fine people from Midpines here; don't leave Merced River - North Fork without first going for a hike along the Pilot Ridge Trail. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors amusing stuff the Central Sierra Nevada has to offer. A tremendous site to stop by next to Merced River - North Fork is Gentry Gulch; there's glorious hiking along the Hite Cove Trail.
