  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The Squaw Valley to Wonder Valley Guest Ranch stretch of Mill Creek in California is 6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. If you're coming from Visalia-Porterville it's
    not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whether you're
whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The beautiful scenery of California and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Sierra Nevada is a great experience. Not too many hotels  
nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

Briefly about the general area:
Going for a hike along the Bobs Flat Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. Lots of folks from Squaw Valley come to Mill Creek, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Deep Creek Trail. This river is always fun. It is very dry here at Mill Creek mostly. The month with most of the rain is January, and July meanwhile is the driest month. For the period of the warmest time of the year at Mill Creek highs are usually in the 90's with nighttime lows in the 60's.
