  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The nature scenery of Amador/ Calaveras County and the cool fresh water have people coming here. This stretch of Mokelumne River - North Fork in Amador/ Calaveras County is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section.
    You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system,
the Below Tiger Creek to Red Corral Road stretch is just one of many. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. The put-in is not too far from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The river winds through the Northern Sierra Nevada and  
you get great scenery. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.

Briefly about the general area:
People from West Point love to come to Mokelumne River - North Fork, and Canzatti Spring is a great local attraction. All the outdoors cool things in the Northern Sierra Nevada will keep you coming back repeatedly. Indian Grinding Rock State Park is a perfect place to stop at on a delightful day.
