  The scenic beauty of Trinity County and the water flowing gracefully down New River attract people from near and far. This section of New River in Trinity County is 19.8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside California you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers
    here are not for beginners. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. The nearby hotels
are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The E Fork confluence to Trinity River section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Eureka-Arcata-Fortuna, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting your paddling  
muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The beauty of the Coast Ranges is a great plus for this river.

Briefly about the general area:
You might want to pay a visit to Dry Gulch since you're here at New River. The Horse Ridge National Scenic Trail offers hiking at its best, and you'll most likely meet some folks from Burnt Ranch here. Lots of fun awaits you along this river. For the duration of the summer months at New River highs are usually in the 90's; the night is a bit cooler of course, typically in the 50's. Through the winter highs are mostly in the 50's, and night lows at New River during the wintertime mostly descend into the 30's.
