that rivers here are less forgiving. The nature scenery of Shasta County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this
is an area with plenty of spots for that. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. The beautiful Southern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Pit 4 Dam to Pit 4 Powerhouse section is just one of them. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll
have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.

Briefly about the general area:
There are nice spots to look at along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 17, and a great spot is Malinda Gulch. If you want a great time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Southern Cascade Range. Don't leave Pit River without first going for a hike along the Rough and Ready Trail. Everybody loves McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park. For the period of the warm months at Pit River temperatures are usually in the 80's.
