The Falls to Lake Mendocino stretch of Russian River - East Fork in California is 2.6 miles long and it is classified as a class II+(III) section by American Whitewater. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature     are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Coast Ranges scenery is wonderful. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. There are campgrounds quite near the   river where you can camp. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. Briefly about the general area: If you want a little side journey, try Hells Delight Canyon, and this is a popular place for folks from Potter Valley. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Coast Ranges. The high level of precipitation makes Russian River - East Fork a pretty wet place.
