California whitewater, Trinity River Trinity county, Tangle Blue Creek to Clair Engle Lake section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-IV     13.6 miles   This section of Trinity River in California is 13.6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. The put-in is not too far from Redding, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful California scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where     you can camp. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The Tangle Blue Creek to Clair Engle Lake section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. The river winds through the Klamath Mountains and you get great scenery. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers   here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Briefly about the general area: Cold Valley is a splendid location to spend some time at, and there are plenty of folks from Trinity Center here. Having a wonderful time in the Klamath Mountains is painless. There are delightful places to explore along the Echo Lake Trail, and a spree to Shasta National Forest is a delightful idea. This is such a fun river. All through the summertime at Trinity River highs are mostly in the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's.
