The Downstream from Forest Glen stretch of Trinity River - South Fork in Trinity County is 8 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Whether |
you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. The nature scenery of California and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The nearby hotels are a bit
| away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you're coming from Eureka-Arcata-Fortuna it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. When you're paddling down a Coast Ranges river like this one you | |
|
always get great scenery along the way too. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Downstream from Forest Glen section is just one of them. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
Briefly
about the general area: If you're here at Trinity River - South Fork, do take a journey to Kingfisher Point; a delightful location nearby is Granite Canyon. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Coast Ranges. Good hiking
is available along the Ruth Hayfork Trail, and there's glorious hiking along the Rough Gulch Trail. This is a great river. Trinity River - South Fork is a pretty wet place usually with lots of precipitation.
