This stretch of Truckee River in Nevada/ Sierra/ Washoe County is 8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III section of whitewater. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with     mother nature have a lot of people coming here. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The put-in is not too far from Reno-Sparks, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are nice comfortable hotels here, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wild scenery of the Northern   Sierra Nevada is great. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: On a beautiful day you can go to Secline Beach right next door to Truckee River, and when you're here it's always fun to take a look at Kings Beach State Park. That right there is a lot of cool stuff already but it goes on, the Northern Sierra Nevada has it all. During your journey to Truckee River you'll meet some folks from Verdi for sure. Hiking along the Mount Rose Trail is great fun, and pleasant skiing awaits you at Mt.
