  If you're coming from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Cherry Creek to Meral's Pool section of Tuolumne River in California is 9 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V+ section. The scenic beauty of Tuolumne County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to
    paddle. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The nearby hotels
are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. And  
of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The river winds through the Central Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery.

You need to explore Hunter Bend if you're here at Tuolumne River, and you'll meet a lot of people from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge here. You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada. While you're here at Tuolumne River you can take a hike along the Pilot Ridge Trail. For the duration of the months of summer here at Tuolumne River, high temperatures regularly reach the 80's.
