CLASS IV-V     18 miles
  The starting location is a short drive from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Tuolumne County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many
    of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The Central Sierra Nevada scenery is wonderful. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. If you hurry you can run this section in
a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Lumsden Campground to Wards Ferry Bridge stretch is just one of them. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this  
area has a large number of paddling rivers. The Lumsden Campground to Wards Ferry Bridge section of Tuolumne River in Tuolumne County is 18 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. The campgrounds here at Tuolumne River are pretty good.

Briefly about the general area:
A delightful site near Tuolumne River is Long Gulch, and this is a popular site for folks from Big Oak Flat. If you love the outdoors you'll love it here in the Central Sierra Nevada. On a great day at Tuolumne River you can take a hike along the Pilot Ridge Trail. Tuolumne River gets a common amount of annual precipitation.
