If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside California you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just     being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. The starting point is not too far from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful California scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Sierra Nevada is a great experience. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. You might have   to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Tioga Road Bridge to Hetch Hetchy Reservoir stretch is just one of many. Briefly about the general area: There is a great hiking trail next to Tuolumne River called the Ten Lakes Trail. Going for a hike on the Tenaya Lake And Tuolumne Meadows Trail is always a delightful adventure. Tuolumne River sees pretty high levels of precipitation. January is when you get the most rain here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
