This stretch of Willow Creek in Madera County is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are     not easy. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Greys Mt. Campground to Chilkoot Campground section is one of them. This is a short paddling stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. The natural beauty of Madera County and the water flowing gracefully down Willow Creek will make you feel great. There's camping available near Willow Creek. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater paddling here   in the Central Sierra Nevada is a great experience. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. Briefly about the general area: Take a hike on the Chilnualna Fall Trail, and don't miss out on a trip to Yosemite National Park since you're here. If you want a great time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Central Sierra Nevada. While you're here at Willow Creek you will meet lots of people from close by Wishon.
