The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The Tioga Pass Road to Yosemite Falls section of Yosemite Creek in Mariposa County is 8 miles long     and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. The nature scenery of Mariposa County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are some good hotels near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.   This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The wild scenery of the Central Sierra Nevada is great. Briefly about the general area: If the weather is nice here at Yosemite Creek, you can go for a hike along the Hetch Hetchy Trail. If time allows, Yosemite National Park is a national park worth checking out. On a fine day at Yosemite Creek you can take a hike along the North Dome Trail; Badger Pass has splendid slopes and a friendly staff. This river has so much to offer. Throughout the warmest time of the year at Yosemite Creek highs are generally in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's.
