California whitewater, Yuba River Yuba Nevada county, North and Middle Fork confluence to Englebright Reservoir section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS IV-V     7.5 miles   Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Yuba City-Marysville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful California scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Yuba River are in themselves reasons enough     to come here to paddle. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The North and Middle Fork confluence to Englebright Reservoir section of Yuba River is 7.5 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. The river winds through the Northern Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have   people coming from far and near. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The campgrounds here at Yuba River are pretty good. Briefly about the general area: You have to go to Rolleys Point when you're here at Yuba River, and there is a nice hiking trail nearby called the South Yuba Trail. You completely ought to like the Northern Sierra Nevada. Yuba River is in the vicinity of Chute Ravine which is without doubt worth visiting, and you'll meet a lot of people from North San Juan here. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer.
