Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you're a camper you can camp at     one of the great campgrounds nearby. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The Wild Plum Campground to Downieville stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. The wild scenery of the Northern Sierra Nevada   is great. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. The scenic beauty of Sierra County and the water flowing gracefully down Yuba River - North Fork have people coming here. There's glorious hiking along the Butcher Ranch Trail, and a spree to Plumas-Eureka State Park when you're here is never a bad idea. Coming to this river is always a good idea. The Second Divide Trail offers hiking at its best, and at Yuba River - North Fork you always meet someone from Alleghany.
