The nature scenery of Sierra County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a     large number of good rivers. If you're coming from Truckee-Grass Valley it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The river winds through the Northern Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The nearby hotels are a bit away from   the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. Briefly about the general area: Snake Bar is a good spot to explore, and Yuba River - North Fork is a location with many visitors from Downieville. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things in the Northern Sierra Nevada. You definitely ought to stop at Malakoff Diggins State Park while you're here at Yuba River - North Fork. Take a hike on the Lafayette Ridge Trail, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Halls Ranch Trail.
