This stretch of Yuba River - North Fork in California is 8.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV section. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here.     The wonderful California scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The put-in location is a short drive from Truckee-Grass Valley, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Sierra Nevada is a great experience. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and   near. The campgrounds here at Yuba River - North Fork are pretty good. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Briefly about the general area: While you're here at Yuba River - North Fork you can take a hike along the Lafayette Ridge Trail, and if you're here you will meet lots of people from close by Downieville. So many entertaining things in the Northern Sierra Nevada, just unbelievable. Yuba River - North Fork is in the vicinity of Malakoff Diggins State Park which is a scenic site. Have a splendid hiking adventure along the Halls Ranch Trail.
