The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river     for a while have a lot of people coming here. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. The wonderful Nevada County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Truckee-Grass Valley, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd   better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is wonderful. Briefly about the general area: Empire Mine State Park is a tremendous site, and Yuba River - South Fork is right by the Humbug Trail. Now, you may think that's a load but there's even more fun things to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Enjoy a lazy day on the beach at Pine Island Beach, and you're sure to bump into some nice folks from Nevada City here. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. The South Yuba Trail offers hiking at its best, and obviously, everyone loves Malakoff Diggins State Park.
