  The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Silverthorne, as you can see on the road map further down. The Numbers Launch to Railroad Bridge Launch stretch of Arkansas River in Colorado is 5 miles long and it is classified as a class IV section by American Whitewater. The Numbers Launch to Railroad Bridge Launch stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. The scenic beauty of Chaffee County and the water flowing gracefully
    down Arkansas River make the trip here worthwhile. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Since you're on this site
you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here.

Briefly about the general area:
 
Take a hike on the Wheeler Trail; you'll meet a lot of folks from Frisco here. Hiking along the Miners Creek Trail is wonderful fun; hey, Gotta ski right? Copper Mountain is a wonderful site to do that. This river has it all. A tour to Rose Gulch is always fun. Throughout the months of summer, highs usually are in the 70's at Arkansas River. Through the moonlight hours it's usually in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Arkansas River descend into the 0's. It is very dried up here at Arkansas River mostly.
