If you're coming from Montrose it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. No matter if you're whitewater     rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. This is an extremely short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Colorado is often tougher than elsewhere, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Cimarron to Gunnison River stretch is one of them. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general   area: The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Mud Springs, and if you desire a little side visit, try Long Gulch. The Deer Creek Trail is a wonderful hiking trail in close proximity to Cimarron River, and Cimarron Point is an attention-grabbing thing to see since you're here. This river is a great place to visit. Cimarron River is close to Crawford State Park which is a picturesque site, and you need to explore Morrow Point while you're here. On a delightful day at Cimarron River you can take a hike along the Hartman Trail, and the smiling folks of Cimarron like to hang out nearby.
